Dr. Klaus Brusgaard at Odense University Hospital and University of Southern Denmark. He received his MSC from Odense University in 1990 and his PhD from Aarhus University in 1999. He is member of the editorial board of PlosOne and Lipdology. He is the principal investigator in both national and international clinical and basic research projects. He is member of DSMG, ADA, ESE and other professional societies. He is a leading expert in the molecular genetics of rare disorders with a focus on endocrine and metabolic disorders. Within the area of endocrinology work has been conducted on congenital hyperinsulinism and monogenic diabetes performing sequence analysis of candidate genes and exoms using next generation sequencing. To analyze the resulting biochemical pathways research has been conducted performing expression profiling using both quantitative real time PCR and microarray analysis. He is part of the national center into analysis of porphyria and hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia here as well studies on both gene and exom level with concomitant microarray studies has been conducted. As part of his interest in the pancreas he is additionally involved in research on hereditary pancreas cancer again using single gene analysis, exom sequencing and expression profiling.
