Biography

Prof. Alessandro Filippo is graduated in Oceanography at the Rio de Janeiro State University – UERJ (1987), M.Sc. (1997) and Ph.D. (2003) in Geosciences (Geochemistry) at the Universidade Federal Fluminense – UFF. He has accumulated experience in Environmental management and Environmental impact assessment, Management of multi-disciplinary teams, Monitoring programs and water quality, Oceanography of bays, Coastal lagoons, Estuaries and coastal waters; Mangrove ecology, Numerical modeling of flow and transport in coastal systems, GIS applications to coastal systems, Database development and coastal management.

Currently he is an Adjunct Professor and Head of the Department ofPhysical Oceanography and Meteorology, School of Oceanography from Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ), where he is responsible for the courses: Data Analysis in Physical Oceanography; Tides; Ocean Waves and Analysis of water masses.
