Biography

Dr. Ming-Lung Yu is a Distinguished Professor at the School of Medicine, Kaohsiung Medical University and Hospital, Taiwan. He completed his medical and postgraduate training at College of Medicine at Kaohsiung Medical University, and has worked as a clinician at Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital and as an academic at Kaohsiung Medical University since then.

His research interests include epidemiology, natural history, pathogenesis and the treatment of patients with viral hepatitis and chronic liver diseases. In addition to his academic and clinical responsibilities, Professor Yu is currently the Director of Hepatobiliary Division, Department of Internal Medicine at Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital.

A board-certified Internist and Gastroenterologist, Professor Yu is recognized as a Clinical Principal Investigator (CPI) by the Academy of Pharmaceutical Physicians and Investigators. In addition to his extensive teaching experience gained at the University Hospital, Professor Yu has published more than 200 articles in prestigious journals, including fields of molecular biology, host genetics and epigenetics, viral kinetics, hepatocarcinogenesis and the optimization of antiviral treatment. He is the Academic Editor of PLoS ONE, Guest Editor of Hepatitis Research Treatment and Current Hepatitis Reports, member of Editorial Board of The Open Infectious Diseases J and Advisory Editorial Board of The Korean J Hepatol. He also frequently serves as the reviewer of major international journals in Medicine, Gastroenterology and Hepatology, such as The Lancet, Hepatology, Gut, J Hepatol, Clinical Infect Disease, Canadian Medical Association Journal, Thorax, J Infect Disease, Medicine, Oncotarget, Scientific Reports etc.
