Dr. Sanjay Batra (PhD from Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow, India) joined as an in-charge Biochemistry Department at Kalawati Saran Children’s Hospital, New Delhi, India in 1993. Dr. Batra was awarded The Regional Service Award at the 8th Asian Pacific Congress of Clinical Biochemistry, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1998 for his contributions in the field of Clinical Biochemistry. Subsequently he also received Bursary Award at 17th International Congress of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC-World Lab), Firenze, Italy in 1999. To pursue his advanced research career he joined The Ohio State University in 2006. Dr. Sanjay Batra joined Department of Pathobiological Sciences, School of Veterinary Medicine, Louisiana State University in 2009 and his work focused on investigating the molecular mechanisms associated with the pathogenesis of bacterial pneumonia and during COPD/Emphysema. Dr. Batra is presently Associate Professor in the Environmental Toxicology PhD program, Southern University and A&M College, Baton Rouge and Adjunct Associate Professor, Department of Pathobiological Sciences, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Dr. Batra is serving as reviewer and Editorial Board member for several journals.

Dr. Batra’s research interests include determination of molecular mechanisms associated with lipid rafts, immunoproteasomes and histone deacetylase mediated regulation of inflammatory responses during second-hand smoke (SHS) exposure, pulmonary challenge with microbes/microbial toxins and environmental toxicants. He also focuses on studying the effects of tyrosine kinases on inflammatory responses regulated by intracellular NOD-like receptors. He has published over 55 original research articles in peer-reviewed journals in addition to invited review articles and book chapters. Dr. Batra has received several prestigious National and International Awards for his research in Clinical Biochemistry and Immunology.
