Dr. Ali Sadoughi completed medical education at Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran, a post-doctoral research fellowship at Stanford University, internal medicine residency at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, pulmonary and critical care fellowship at Hofstra North Shore LIJ School of Medicine and the interventional pulmonology fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. He joined the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center and Montefiore Cancer Center as the director of the Interventional Pulmonology and Bronchoscopy in September 2015. He is a member of the American Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology (AABIP) with interest in evolution and application of sophisticated and modern technologies in early diagnosis and treatment of different pulmonary diseases; from lung cancers to pulmonary hypertension, interstitial lung disease, respiratory failure and pleural diseases.
Dr. Ali Sadoughi’s clinical expertise is in interventional pulmonology and thoracic oncology, an evolvingsub-specialty of pulmonary and critical care medicine. This field focuses on patients with benign and malignant chest diseases. He performed advanced diagnostic procedures for patients with lung nodules/masses and intra-thoracic lymphadenopathy. He earned the skill sets in sampling of peripheral pulmonary lesions. He also performs therapeutic bronchoscopy on patients with major airway disorders, which include tumor de-bulking, airway dilatation and stent placement. Similarly, he performs diagnostic procedures on patients with suspected malignant pleural conditions and also the therapeutic interventions such as pleurodesis and tunneled pleural catheter. Other interventions include bronchial thermoplasty for severe asthma and endobronchial valve placement for persistent air-leaks. He has extended experience in ultrasonography and echocardiography and their application in pulmonary and critical care medicine. The outcome of my research studies in pulmonary hypertension and interventional pulmonary has been published in high-ranked medical journals and presented in multiple national conferences.
