Dr. Cristiana Palmela Pereira received her DDS degree in Dental Medicine from Dental Faculty from Lisbon University in 2000, and her MSc and Ph.D. degree in Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences from Medical Faculty from Lisbon University, Portugal, respectively in 2005 and 2010. She is an Assistant Professor at the Dental Faculty from the University of Lisbon. During this period, she worked as a Forensic Adviser (Forensic Consultant of Forensic Dentistry) at the Portuguese Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences, South Branch in Lisbon, until present. She is Forensic Odontologist of the DVI (Disaster Victim Identification) Portuguese Team. She has published National and International peer-reviewed papers, several National and International book chapters and a textbook in the field of Forensic Dentistry.
She is a co-author from the textbook of the manual proceedings of criminal investigation from the Portuguese Judicial Police. She has been invited as Editorial board members of several journals and she has been invited as Ad Hoc Review of several others journals, such as, Journal of Comparative Human Biology, International Journal of Clinical Pathology and Forensic Medicine, and the Bulletin of the International Association for Paleodontology. She regularly gives lectures as an invite Professor from other universities than the University of Lisbon (such as the pre graduation course of Forensic Sciences and Criminal Investigation) and invited talks in conferences and training workshops to graduate students, colleagues, and professionals.
She was awarded with National and International awards, such as the IOFOS highest award, the Ferdinand STRÖM.
