Dr. Jorge Augusto Borin Scutti is currently Research Scientist of Immunology Department at the MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston-Texas). He earned his bachelor of Biomedical Science at Araraquara University (UNIARA) in Brazil and his Master and PhD in Microbiology and Immunology Department at Federal University of Sao Paulo (UNIFESP) working with Prof. Luiz Travassos, one of the most celebrated researches from Brazil. In his thesis work performedcancer vaccines using peptides derived from SOCS-1 protein to stimulate immune system against murine melanoma. After completing his PhD, Jorge Scutti accepted a position as postdoctoral fellow at Albert Einstein Hospital, it is one of the most well-know health unit in Brazil due the quality of care and expertise at its disposal to address the main types of pathologies, including cancer. In 2014 Jorge Scutti accepted a Postdoctoral position at the MD Anderson Cancer Center – Pediatrics Department, where he began start evaluating DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Glioma Pontine) microenvironment, Natural killer cells as immunotherapy tool and histone deacetylase inhibitors (iHDAC). In 2015 Jorge Scutti accepted a Research Scientist position at MD Anderson Cancer Center – Immunology Department working on cancer immunotherapy where he has been since that time. Experience focused on innovative research in Immunology, Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry with proven achievements in industrial and academic settings. Faculty experience as Immunology, Molecular Biology, Pathology and Microbiology professor. Experience in cancer immunology and immunotherapy in experimental studies – cancer vaccines (monoclonal antibodies, dendritic cell-based immunotherapy, peptides and T cell adoptive transfer), immunomodulators for inflammatory diseases, process of drug discovery and development with working knowledge of the progression of compounds through the discovery cycle into pre clinical and clinical development, translational research projects including implementation protocol development and data collection. Author of the book entitled Fundamental Immunology written in Portuguese. Published multiple book chapters as well as articles in Immunology field.
