Prof. Alean Al-Krenawi, PhD, is president of Achva Academic College and Professor in the Spitzer Department of Social Work at Ben Gurion University of the Negev, both in Israel. He is former Dean of the School of Social Work at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. Prof. Al-Krenawi's research interests include multicultural mental-health, political violence, polygamy, and social work with indigenous population. He has conducted studies in the Middle East, North America, and Europe. Among his numerous publications are books on women and mental health, social work with Muslim communities, diversity and social work in Canada, and polygamy and mental health in the Arab world. Prof. Al-Krenawi has also authored numerous book chapters and academic peer reviewed articles.Recently published works appear/are about to appear in the American Journal of Orthopsychiatry, British Journal of Psychiatry, British Journal of Social Work, Child Abuse and Neglect, Community Mental Health Journal, Current Opinion in Psychiatry, Family Process, Health and Social Work, The Journal of Comparative Family Studies, Social Psychology, and Social Psychiatry, among other professional forums.
