After four years in Japan, Dr. Brian Schwarz moved to China in June 2000 and has lived in Beijing, Nanjing, and Shanghai. Currently he is an Adjunct Professor at the ESSCA School of Management in Shanghai where he has taught courses in China’s Legal Environment, Consumer Behavior in the Asian Market, and Global Sourcing and Corporate Strategy to masters-level students mostly from Europe. He also teaches a Doing Business in China course at Hult International Business School in Shanghai.
Since 2006, Professor Schwarz has authored a number of articles published in the Shanghai Business Review, China Economic Review, and China International Business. His current research project is titled Consumer Values Model of Status Consumption: A Cross-Cultural Empirical Analysis of Chinese, French and American Generation Y Consumers.
Professor Schwarz is also an associate consultant at Zukunft Group Worldwide, LLC, where he advises clients on the risks and opportunities of entering the China market.
