Dr. Amal Sindi (BDS, MSc, PhD) is currently an Assistant Professor and Consultant in the Department of Oral Diagnostic Sciences, Oral Pathology Division at the Faculty of Dentistry, King Abdulaziz University (KAU) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
After graduating from KAU, Dr. Sindi received her Masters degree in Oral Pathology from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts in 2003. Following her return, she was given the task of preparing for the ADEE/DentEd Site Visit at the Faculty of Dentistry in 2005, and, as a member of the Academic Assessment Unit, became comprehensively involved in the task of writing-up the Self-assessment report (SSR). In 2011, Dr. Sindi received her PhD in Dental Education from the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University in the United Kingdom.
Dr. Sindi was appointed as a Consultant with the Center of Strategic Studies at KAU and Coordinator for the 2nd Strategic Plan in the Faculty of Dentistry. Her areas of expertise as the Deputy General Supervisor for the Academic Accreditation Administration and the Quality Administration at the Vice Dean President office for Development include higher education policy, governance, and administration. Among her duties are supporting different Faculties at KAU for National and International accreditation, as well as conducting workshops and training on “Program Academic Accreditation” which include Program and Course specifications as well as training on developing learning outcomes. Dr. Sindi is also a member of the Board of the Faculty of Dentistry, in addition to the Executive Committees for the Academic Accreditation Administration, Quality Administration and Assessment and Evaluation Administration at KAU, overseeing policies and procedures at the institutional level. Dr. Sindi also serves as a consultant for the Qualification of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University for Institutional Accreditation project. Recently, Dr. Sindi participated as a Review Panel Member with the National Commission on Academic Accreditation and Assessment (NCAAA) for the Dental Program accreditation of the School of Dentistry, University of Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
Currently, Dr. Sindi is the Head of the Faculty Skills Enhancement Division where the main focus is directed to conducting and developing workshops to support the quality of teaching and learning at the Faculty of Dentistry.
Dr. Sindi has coauthored numerous journal publications and conference articles, and has received several grants from various funding agencies like DSR at KAU.
