Dr. Ernesto Bruschi received his DMD and MS in Dentistry from the University of Rome (La Sapienza) in 1995. During 1995-97, he completed his internship at that institution in Oral Pathology and Histology in the Department of Surgical Pathology, and his surgical residency at its School of Dental Surgery and Prosthodontics. After a year of clinical practice in Rome, in 1999 he completed a post-graduate course in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry in Sweden at the University of Gothenburg. Upon his return to Italy, Dr. Bruschi opened his own dental clinic in Frosinone, staffed with two other dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants, while also working part-time at a major clinic in the center of Rome near Via Veneto, around the corner from the American Embassy. Dr. Bruschi’s primary specialties are: periodontal microsurgery, including gingival grafting; bone grafting; osteome and sinus floor procedures; split-crest; immediate loading protocols, especially full arch reconstructions on 4- or 6-tilted implants. He has clinically experienced the benefits and future potential of welding procedures in immediate loading of full-arch bridges. In his daily surgical routine, he uses piezosurgery for periodontology and implants and the magnetic mallet for the osteotome procedures. Most recently, he has been selected by Sweden & Martina S.p.A., a prominent dental implant manufacturer, to participate with other specialists in the development of a new implant system. Dr. Bruschi has held several theoretical and hands-on clinical courses for dentists in implant dentistry and prosthodontics. He has also co-authored articles in The International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry, Clinical Implant Dentistry, and in The International Journal of Maxillofacial Implants, this last in which he co-authored the groundbreaking and often cited “Localized management of sinus floor with simultaneous implant placement: a clinical report,” one of his earliest professional contributions. Dr. Bruschi is a member of: the Academy of Osseointegration; the American Academy of Periodontology; the European Association for Osseointegration; and the International Piezosurgery Academy. Dr. Bruschi, a native of Italy, spent his junior high school and high school years studying in English-speaking schools, in the US in the Boston area and then in Rome; he is completely bilingual in both Italian and English.
