Dr. Bishayee has 25 years combined experience in pharmaceutical education, research, teaching, and administration. He received Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.), Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm.), and Ph.D. in Pharmacy from Jadavpur University, Kolkata (Calcutta), India. He performed post-doctoral research at Rutgers University, Newark, NJ (formerly University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey) and completed a fellowship in Academic Medicine from Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED, Rootstown, OH). He was associated with the American University of Health Sciences School of Pharmacy (Signal Hill, CA) as Assistant Dean, Chair and Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Prior to that, he served as a charter faculty member in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy and Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, College of Medicine at Northeast Ohio Medical University (Rootstown, OH).
He has published at least 103 original research papers and review articles in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals, such as Biochemical Pharmacology, Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, British Journal of Cancer, Cancer Prevention Research, Carcinogenesis, Current Cancer Drug Targets, Cancer Letters, Pharmaceutical Research, and International Journal of Cancer, 10 book chapters, and presented over 40 papers at various national and international scientific meetings. Currently, his Elsevier’s Scopus h index is 23 with 1,911 total citations. He served as special theme-issue guest editor for the Current Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Currant Cancer Drug Targets and Seminars in Cancer Biology. He is the Associate Editor-in-Chief of World Journal of Gastroenterology and Associate Editor of BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine. He is also currently serving as an editorial board member of several reputed journals, including Anti-Cancer Drugs, American Journal of Cancer Science, Chemoprevention, Journal of Carcinogenesis and Mutagenesis and World Journal of Hepatology, and ad-hoc reviewer of more than 50 peer-reviewed scientific journals, including Nature Reviews and Cancer Research.
He has received several research awards, including “Young Investigator” award (Indo-American Society of Nuclear Medicine and Dublin Institute of Technology, Ireland), “Younger Scientist” award (National Science Council, Canada and Indian Chemical Society), as well as “most cited”, “most accessed” and “high-impact” articles in Cancer Prevention Research, Molecular Nutrition and Food Research and World Journal of Hepatology, respectively. He is an active member of various organizations devoted to scientific research and pharmacy education.
Several projects of Dr. Bishayee are funded by the National Cancer Institute/National Institutes of Health as well as private pharmaceutical/biotechnological companies.

His laboratory is currently involved in examining chemopreventive and therapeutic potential of various medicinal plants, dietary agents as well as novel synthetic agents in several preclinical cancer models with special emphasis on breast and liver cancer.
