Professor Vagner Rodrigues Santos completed his Postdoctoral in Clinical Pharmacology (University of California, Berkeley, CA, USA, 2012), Doctor of Science with emphasis in Oral Pathology University Fedral of Minas Gerais (UFMG)-(1996), Master in Microbiology from UFMG and Institut National de RechercheAgronomique (INRA), Jouyen-Josas, France (1990/1992), Specialist in Maxillofacial Surgery (UFMG), graduated in Dentistry (1980) by the UFMG. Associate Professor IV of Dept of Oral Clinical, Oral Pathology and Surgery, Faculty of Dentistry since 1992. He has experience in dentistry, with emphasis on Oral Pathology, Stomatology and Microbiology, acting on the following topics: medicinal plants and propolis, lesions on the oral mucosa, oral microbiology, microbial injuries, inflammatory and neoplastic lesions, product development and drugs based on medicinal plants and propolis for use in the mouth. Themain line of researchis to developnew drugs andclinicaltrialsto testpatients: ClinicalStudiesPhaseI, IIand III.It is Coordinator of the Microbiology Laboratory and also Coordinator of Dental Support Service Extension Project to Patients with Cancer and irradiated in the head and neck region. It was coordinator of the Assistance Nucleus Research (NAPq), Faculty of Dentistry (1996- 2000). He was a member of the Advisory Committee for Research Projects Selection for funding and grants from UFMG (1997/1999); Deputy Director of the UFMG School of Dentistry (2001-2003), Pro Tempore Director of Dentistry (2003/2004), Deputy Director of the Dental School (2004-2008). He was a member of the Ethics Committee on Animal Experiments of UFMG (CETEA); guides students of Scientific Initiation and Post-Graduate courses in Dentistry. It has published articles in national and international journals and is reviewer of national and international scientific journals. He was president of the Brazilian Society of Apitherapy (SBA).
