Dr. Kamran Habib Awan, BDS, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Oral Medicine at King Saud University, Saudi Arabia and also holds a Clinical Research Associate position at King’s College London, UK. Dr. Awan completed his Ph.D. in Oral Medicine from King’s College London, United Kingdom in the year 2011.Dr. Awan has published a number of scientific peer reviewed articles in international recognised journals and lectured extensively on the subject of oral cancer and precancer from the levels of basic science to the management. More recently, Dr. Awan has served as an Oral Session chair at the 92nd General Session & Exhibition of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR), Cape Town, South Africa. He is also serving on the editorial board and peer review panel of various medical and dental journals.
His research interests include screening for oral cancer and precancer, developing clinical and laboratory tests to identify at risk subjects to assist in the early detection, developing tumour and genetic markers for diagnosis and examining risks for oral cancer in different populations and the delivery of interventional programmes directed at cessation of tobacco and areca nut usage.
