Tommy Johnson received his BS and Pharm.D from the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy and has practiced as a community pharmacist and as a hospital diabetes coordinator. Dr. Johnson has been a pharmacist for over 25 years and a Certified Diabetes Educator since 1995. Dr. Johnson has served as a faculty member for the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy and is currently a Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the Presbyterian College School of Pharmacy, where he was one of the founding faculty members and administrators. He with three physicians started Mercy Health Center, a free medical clinic, in Athens Georgia and currently provides pharmacy and diabetes management services for three free clinics. His scholarship includes writing and developing and providing continuing education and lectures on diabetes.
His research interest includes patient outcomes for patients in underserved clinics and in the safe and effective use of complementary medicine to improve patient outcomes.
