Dr. Ratan K. Choudhary is currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Animal Biotechnology at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Science University (GADVASU), Ludhiana in India. Prior to his recent appointment, he was a post-doctoral fellow at University of Kentucky, Lexington, USA and worked at United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Beltsville, Maryland. He received Bachelor of Veterinary Science from Madras Veterinary College, Chennai in the year 2004. He received the degree of Master of Veterinary Science from Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Bareilly with specialization in Animal Genetics and Breeding. His PhD in Animal Science was awarded from University of Maryland, College Park, USA. He published a number of papers in peer-reviewed journals of high repute in Animal Sciences. He presented several research-based papers and invited lectures at International (USA, Slovakia) and National conferences. He was the recipient of several prestigious awards/fellowships. He received best paper presentation award in PhD student division at American Dairy Science Association (ADSA) and Novus International travel award in 2011. He was recommended for travel sponsorship from Department of Science and Technology (DST) New Delhi to present his research findings at ADSA annual meeting in 2014. He is a Member of ADSA, Illinois, USA. He is a registered veterinary practitioner of Punjab Veterinary Council, Chandigarh and life member of Veterinary Council of India, New Delhi.
His current research interests include stem cell biology, lactation physiology and mammary gland biology.
