Dr. Sudheesh S Nair Graduated in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (BVSc & AH) from College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Mannuthy, Thrissur, Kerala Agriculture University in 2002. He started his career as a Veterinarian in Animal welfare organization–CRA (Crusade for Rights of Animals, Bangalore, India. He did his Post-graduation in Veterinary Surgery and Radiology (MVSc) from Veterinary College Bangalore, University of Agriculture Sciences through All India ICAR entrance examination in 2004. He worked as Veterinary Surgeon in Kerala Animal Husbandry Department for 1 yr. He got selected through (UPSC- SSB) All India Services Selection Board Interview in Indian Army Remount Veterinary Corps in 2005 and Commissioned as Officer in Indian Army RVC. He served in Indian Army RVC as officer in 5 yrs in various establishments including 3 yrs tenure in High Altitude Indo- China Border where handled 3 winter stocking exercise with Army Mules and Horses in uncongenial climatic condition . He joined PETA INDIA as Programme Manager and lead the Animal welfare programme for working Animals “ANIMAL RAHAT“ and was instrumental in developing Animal Rahat as a special programme in India focusing on promoting ANIMAL WELFARE of all Species with special interventions in Working bullocks and integrating community development and compassionate handling . He published 69 papers in Veterinary Surgery, Applied Animal Welfare, clinical and surgical research in reputed National journals and actively participated in National and International Seminars. He is a Life Member of Indian Society for Veterinary Surgery, Indian Society of Advancement in Canine Practice, Association of Remount Veterinary Corps, Association of Equine Practitioners. He received best paper Awards in Annual conferences of ISVS including Gold medal in Equine Surgery session in Indian Society for Veterinary Surgery Annual Conference and International seminar for paper entitled Surgical Affections of Hoof in Army mules in High altitude. Apart from Veterinary Surgery, he actively involved in integrating Animal Welfare and Veterinary Education with special reference to Animal Behaviour Psychology, Applied Animal Ethology and Pain Management.
