Professor Wafaa Hammoud is Professor of Clinical & Hospital Pharmacy at the faculty of Pharmacy-Damascus University since 2003. She completed Ph.D in Clinical Pharmacy at the Faculty of Pharmacy-Claude-Bernard University, Lyon in France (March 1993). She is especially dedicated to actively advancing the field of clinical pharmacy. When the two-year master’s degree in clinical pharmacy was established in the Damascus University in 2005, she was appointed as Program Director. In this capacity, she facilitated in-hospital training programs for graduate students and also supervised the development of protocols for hospital procedures related to drug handling and administration. She supervised Masters and Ph.D students at different universities.
To date, she has published eight papers, one chapter in Handbook of Clinical Pharmacy, and three reference books in Arabic language “Pharmacology in Clinical Practice (2009), Medication Management of Clinical Cases (2012) and Reviews in Clinical Pharmacotherapy (2012)”. She is a founder and Editor in Chief of the Drug Information Journal publishes in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), established in 2010.
In 2011, she was one of three scientists who established PharmaQuest International Center (an independent center for drug development and clinical research) in Damascus, Syria. In 2013, she established a clinical research center in Michigan, USA for conducting clinical trials.
