Biography

Dr. Alireza Foroumadi was born in 1964 in Iran. He obtained a doctorate of pharmacy in 1990 and then a Ph.D in medicinal chemistry in 1996, both from theTehran University of Medical Sciences, Iran. In 1996, he joined the Faculty of Pharmacy, Kerman University of Medical Sciences as an Assistant Professor and became an Associate Professor in 2002. He worked under Prof. S. Ikegami at Teikyo University, Tokyo (1996) and then under Prof. C. R. Ganellin at University College, London (2000) for his postdoctoral research. He returned to the Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 2005, and went on to become a Professor in 2007.

As a group leader, Alireza Foroumadi effectively contributed to the research on design and synthesis of novel bioactive compounds at the Pharmaceutical Sciences Research Center, Tehran University of Medical Sciences.


Research Interest

Synthesis and biological evaluation of Heterocyclic compounds with diverse Pharmacological activities, for example: Antibacterial, Anticancer, Antileishmanial, Anti-Helicobacter pylori and Anticholinesterase activities.
