Dr. Dmitry A. Moshkoff is a very competent Virologist with extensive working experience covering Arenaviridae, Flaviviridae, Togaviridae, Retroviridae, Orthomyxoviridae virus families. His experience includes vaccine development using various approaches, such as generation of recombinant and reassortant viruses, VLP’s, DNA and RNA (self-amplifying) expressing constructs. His experience is not limited to the molecular engineering of the above mentioned viruses but also includes exceptional knowledge of animal models for infectious diseases. In 1993, he received an MS degree in Chemical and Biotechnological engineering from the M.V. Lomonosov Institute of Fine Chemical Technology, Moscow, Russia. In 1998, he was awarded a Ph.D degree in Genetics at the Medical Faculty of University of People’s Friendship, Moscow, Russia. From 2011 to 2013, he was a consultant at Global Viral Network. From 2009 to 2010, he was a Senior Scientist/Molecular Virologist at the Institute of Human Virology, University of Maryland School of Medicine, and was involved in numerous projects covering Lassa virus vaccine development and testing using various animal models.
From 2006 to 2009 he was a Principal Scientist in the Virology and Immunology Department of SeraCare Life Sciences Inc. and was responsible for overseeing a wide range of research and product development activities in support of government and commercial programs focusing on infectious diseases, diagnostics and therapeutics. From 2003 to 2006 at UNC he was involved in numerous projects, including the development of Lassa virus vaccine (Live attenuated, reassortant and recombinant Yellow fever 17D virus/Lassa virus vaccines candidate). He investigated Mopeia (Mozambique) virus and was the first to sequence two complete genomes of Mopeia virus and the reassortant between Mopeia and Lassa virus.
