Professor Firdos Alam Khan joined Manipal University Dubai in 2005 as Associate Professor and Chairperson, Department of Biotechnology (now School of Life Sciences) and in 2009 he has been promoted to full Professor Rank. He received his Doctoral degree in the field of Neuroscience from Nagpur University, India. He has 21 years of research and teaching experience in various domains of life sciences. He did his first postdoctoral research from National Institute of Biological Science, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Bangalore, India where he worked on WHO funded project and he did his second postdoctoral fellowship from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, USA where he worked on NIH funded project. He was associated with Long Beach Medical Center, California, USA as an Associate Research Director for a neurological disorder project. After receiving post-doctoral trainings, he joined Reliance Life Sciences, a multimillion dollar Biotech Company based in Mumbai, India, as a research scientist and worked on adult and embryonic stem cell projects. He has published a textbook on biotechnology, namely Biotechnology Fundamentals in the year 2011 which was published by CRC Press/Taylor & Francis Group. He has been awarded two US patents on the discovery of the stem cells. Recently he has been nominated as an International Advisor Board member of World Biotechnology Congress, UAE. He has also been nominated for member of the scientific advisory committee for Pharmaceutical & Biotechnology Middle East. He is a member of various international scientific organizations like the International Brain Research Organization, France, and Society for Neuroscience, USA. He has work experience in multi-cultural environment with different positions such as researcher, teacher, academic administrator and educationist. He has presented more than 20 different national and international conferences in India, Singapore, UAE, Thailand, and USA.
