Dr. Rocca was born in Alexandria, Egypt in 1953. He had his education in Alexandria and was graduated from Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University in 1976. He completed his residency program at the Shatby Maternity Hospital in Alexandria, and shortly afterwards, he joined the staff of the OB/GYN department at Alexandria University in 1981. After 15 years of medical education, clinical practice and research, he was given the position of a full Professor at the same department where he still holds the same position till now.
Early in his career, he was interested in laparoscopy where he shared in many clinical researches and training programs in this field. Later on, the major interest turned to be high risk pregnancy especially preeclampsia. Dr. Rocca has supervised more than 50 theses for the master degree and about 15 thesis for the MD degree in different fields of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
