Dr. Tamer Hamza was born in Cairo, Egypt and finished high school education by taking the General Certificate of Education (University of London) in 1989. He then applied to the Faculty of Oral Medicine at Cairo University and graduated as a dentist. In 1996, he joined the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine at Azhar University as a demonstrator in the Fixed Prosthodontics Department. After completing his Masters’ degree, he was accepted as a visiting scholar at The Ohio State University, where he first published articles under the supervision of Dr. Stephen Rosenstiel, Chair of the Prosthodontics Department at the time and my mentor. After 14 months in the United States, he returned to Egypt to complete his Ph.D. Currently, he is head of the Department of Fixed Prosthodontics in Azhar University, where his colleagues and he hope to improve the quality of graduate education with enhanced education and research activities. His vision is to be recognized as one of the most distinguished departments worldwide.
