Professor Joseph Shapira was the Chairman of the Department of Paediatric Dentistry, Hebrew University-Hadassah Faculty of Dental Medicine, Jerusalem, Israel between 2002-2014. Following his graduation from the Hebrew University-Hadassah Faculty of Dental Medicine in Jerusalem in 1974, he specialized for two years in Paediatric Dentistry, with special emphasis on dentistry for the handicapped at The Childrenís Hospital of Philadelphia, University of Pennsylvania, USA.
Prof. Shapira is a full Professor in Pediatric Dentistry and an expert in Dentistry for special needs and high risk medically compromised patients as well as in the use of sedative agents regarding management of anxiety and behavior control. He has published over 100 articles in refereed international journals, and has lectured on these subjects around the world.
