Dr. Alfred Lau is a consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Branemark Osseointegration Centre of Hong Kong and Honorary consultant at the Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital. He is also current honorary Associate Professor and part time clinical lecturer at the University of Hong Kong and Honorary specialist in Queen Mary Hospital for both undergraduates and postgraduates teaching.
Dr. Lau is the founder and current President of Young Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Group of Hong Kong and he is actively working in promoting OMS around the region. Currently, he also holds the position of the Vice President of the Hong Kong Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Vice President of Hong Kong Society of Sedation and Anesthesia in Dentistry, Councilor of the Asian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and committee member of Young Dentist Group of HKDA. He has also been invited as an editorial advisory member of the Quintessence Asia Pacific edition journal, Editor of the Journal of Dental Health, Oral Disorders and Therapy and as a reviewer of International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, BMJ case reports and Chronicles of Surgery.
Dr. Lau started his OMFS training in Hong Kong under Professor Tideman and Professor Nabil Samman and obtained his specialist fellowship afterwards. He also frequently speaks in conferences and courses both locally and internationally. He has been invited to participate in various surgeries and is very active in participating in voluntary services especially cleft lip and palate surgeries.
