Sofía Flavia Borrego Alonso has a degree in Microbiology and a Dr in Biological Sciences; she is a Senior Researcher at the National Archives of the Republic of Cuba (ARNAC) and Senior Professor at 2 Universities (Arts University and Havana University). She is head of the Preventive Conservation Laboratory and Secretary of the ARNAC Scientific Council. She organizes and performs methodological advice on Preventive Conservation of Documentary Heritage in the Cuban Archive System. She investigates 4 topics fundamentally highlighting environmental mycology. She currently directs a national technological innovation project. She has presented more than 160 papers and/or conferences at national and international conferences. She has published more than 95 articles in national and international scientific journals; she is also the author of 2 books, 2 book chapters, and 1 patent. She is a reviewer for 4 national journals and multiple international journals. She is part of the group of editors of the English journal EC Microbiology. She teaches at the Training and Postgraduate Center attached to ARNAC and has contributed to the undergraduate and postgraduate training of students and specialists from 3 Cuban universities (Havana University, Art University, Polytechnic University). She has taught courses and workshops in Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Spain, and Venezuela. She is a member of six Cuban Scientific Societies. She has a prize in Biomedical Sciences from the Cuban Academy of Sciences (2020).
