Biography

Dr. Theresa L Chang is a Principal Investigator at the Public Health Research Institute, Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. She received her BS in Microbiology from Soochow University, Taiwan, and her MS in Molecular Virology from Auburn University. She obtained her Ph.D. degree from New York University and did her postdoctoral training at Yale University. She has been continuously funded by NIH in the field of innate immunity, sex hormones, and viral pathogenesis since 2005. She was a full member in the NIH study sections and continues to serve as an ad hoc reviewer. She is on the editorial board of Pathogens and serves as an ad hoc reviewer for numerous journals including Journal Clinical Investigation, Science Immunology, and PNAS.


Research Interest

Dr. Chang’s main research interest is to understand host-virus interactions at molecular and cellular levels and to determine mucosal immune and microbial determinants that modulate cell susceptibility, pathogenesis, and disease progression in clinical settings and animal models.
