Antonis Ampatzoglou is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with an MSc in Food Technology-Quality Assurance and a Ph.D. in Prebiotics, Gut Microbiology and Immunology, with a solid technical background in various food-related scientific fields & extensive experience in Microbiological Safety Risk Assessment from the perspectives of the regulator (i.e., UK Competent Food Authority), the industry (i.e. one of the largest retailers and one of the largest manufacturers globally), and academia (European Food Risk Assessment Fellowship Programme, organized by the European Food Safety Authority, hosted at the University of Granada). He is a member of the Institute of Food Science and Technology and the safe food Knowledge Network. Dr. Ampatzoglou’s primary area of interest is Microbiological Food Safety Risk Assessment. His present research focuses on incorporating the gut microbiome in the risk assessment of xenobiotics and identifying beneficial components in the gut microbiome for various applications under One Health.
