Biography

Dr. Catarina Afonso, RN, MS, a Ph.D. student currently works as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the School of Health Sciences, Polythecnic of Leiria, Portugal, and as a nurse on the Health Center of Leiria (ACES PL) and exercise functions as Coordinator of the UCC (Unit of Community Care). She has an MS in Nursing Community Health, Graduate in Human Sexuality, in Palliative Care, and Administration of Health Institutions. Her Ph.D. study is focused on post-caregiver experience on rebuilding daily life. Her expertise is teaching undergraduate nursing students, Palliative Care. Her research has been published in Jornal Aging and Innovation, RCCAP, and Researchgate. She has presented as a guest speaker at local, regional, and international conferences.


Research Interest

Dr. Catarina Afonso’s research interests are span Teaching, holistic and integrative nursing for symptom management, mental health programs with nursing interventions, Palliative Care, Grief, intervention, and support to caregivers and post-caregivers.
