Dr. Seerwan Hama Shareef is a professor in the Department of Surgery, at the University of Sulaimani, Sulaymaniyah, Kurdistan Region, Iraq. He obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at Baghdad University, College of Medicine followed by the Arab Board of Medical Specialities, General Surgery which is equal to Ph.D. from Arab League. He was appointed as a teacher in the College of Medicine, Sulaimani University in 1994, followed by the degree of assistant professor in 2000, to be appointed as a Professor in General Surgery in 2012. He was labeled as Head of Arab Board center of Medical Specialities from 2008 till now. His main duty was teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students till now by supervising different papers of postgraduate students in general surgery. He is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS)
Prof. Seerwan Hama Shareef’s main research interests are in Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary Surgery, focussing on benign anorectal problems. He has innovated a new method to treat (rectal prolapse) and published it in BMC Surgery journal in 2014.
