Biography

Dr. Zakia Attia Mohamed Ahmed is an Emeritus Professor in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Cairo University since 2017 till date. She is a Graduate of Veterinary Medicine and Animal surgery from Zagazig University, Sharkya governorate 1980. She did a Master’s in animal, poultry environment hygiene (poultry hygiene, epidemiology) in 1984, and Ph. D (poultry environmental microbiology and immune response) 1986 from Cairo Veterinary Medicine. She was a fellowship researcher of avian medicine (environmental pollution, stress, and mitigation proposal) for Virginia Polytech Institute and State University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Blacksburg, Virginia, USA, 1993. She was a senior Professor of ecology and environmental pollution for the Faculty of Science, University of Dammam, KSA, 1999-2006. She served as Head of the Unit of Disposing animal carcasses and environmental pollutants in Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Cairo Uniersity2012-2015. She served as Head of animal hygiene and management, Cairo Veterinary Medicine 2013-2017. She is serving as a senior professor for postgraduates (Master and Ph.D.) in the same department and in collaboration with the dept. of microbiology, pathology, and avian diseases diagnosis in Faculty of Cairo Veterinary Medicine and in the multidisciplinary project for recycling wastewater with Faculty of Science and Agriculture, Cairo University. She is a reviewer in international, regional, and local scientific Journals and Egyptian Academia for scientific research since 2009 to date.


Research Interest

Dr. Zakia Attia Mohamed Ahmed's research interests are Animals, poultry farms, and environmental hygiene; environment stress, pollution and immune responses to viral and bacterial infection; Epidemiology of animal and avian disease associated with public health risk. Aquacultures hygiene. Occupational hazards and health risks are associated with the animal and poultry industries.
