Dr. Abbas is a consultant general and laparoscopic surgeon and head of the general surgery department at National Guard hospital, AL Madinah, KSA, and the former head of general surgery, King Fahad Medical City, Al Riyadh, KSA professor of clinical surgery. Graduated from the University of Khartoum /Sudan in 1982 and obtained the fellowship of the royal college of surgeon /Ireland 1n 1990 and the international college of surgeons in 2001, and the fellowship of the American college of surgeons USA in 2011. He is actively involved in the training of surgical residents and he is the former director of the Saudi council training program in general surgery at the National Guard Hospital, Al Madinah, and king Fahad medical city Al Riyadh, KSA. He is also a member of the examination board of the Saudi council for health specialization fellowship exams in general surgery. Member of the editorial board and reviewer of many international medical journals. Organizer and director of the basic and advanced laparoscopic training courses at the National Guard hospital/ Al Madinah. An active researcher with more than 80 scientific papers published in different international medical journals. Member of many international academic associations and societies of general and laparoscopic surgery and member of the international federation of obesity and metabolic surgery. Author of the book cases study for postgraduate examinations in general surgery and founder of Sudan journal of surgical sciences. He was recently awarded the Fellowship of the Medical Research Council (FMRC) the membership of Global Journals USA. He was also awarded for his effort in the consolidation of zero SSI and no harm policies by the national health affairs, KSA.
