Dr. Saifutdinov Rafik is the head of the chair of the hospital and ambulatory therapy Kazan State Medical Academy – Branch Campus of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Further Professional Education “Russian Medical Academy of Continuing Professional Education of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation (KSMA - Branch Campus of the FSBEI FPE RMACPE MOH Russia), Chief gastroenterologist of the Republic of Tatarstan, Chairman of the Society of the gastroenterology of Republic Tatarstan, Chief Editor of the magazine «Kazan medical school diary» M.D., Professor. He has published more than 300 articles, received 12 copyright certificates for inventions, and published 9 monographs. Until 1999, he was the head of the Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) laboratory. Saifutdinov Rafik is a member of the editorial board of the journals: "Siberian Bulletin of Hepatology and Gastroenterology "(Tomsk)," Experimental and Clinical Gastroenterology "(Moscow)," Medical Alphabet "(Moscow)," University Therapeutic Bulletin" (St. Petersburg). He is a member of the societies: ISDE (International Society of Doctors for the Environment), ISEPR (International Society of Electron Paramagnetic Resonance), ESMRBM (European Society of Magnetic Resonance in Biology and Medicine).
Professor Saifutdinov Rafik's research interest is in the diseases of internal organs, gastroenterology, and the use of the EPR method in medicine. His current research focuses on the introduction of a conservative method of dissolving gallstones (contact chemical litholysis), as an alternative to the surgical method of removing the gallbladder.
