Biography

Dr. Rakesh Kumar working as a Scientist (ARS) in the Department of Livestock Production of Indian council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)-Research Complex (RC) for North Eastern Hill (NEH) Region of Meghalaya, India. He is a Graduate (B.V.Sc & A.H.) in Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry from Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (G.B.P.U.A&T) Pantnagar, Uttarakhand, India, 2010. He did a Master’s (M.V.Sc) in Animal Genetics and Breeding from ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bareilly, India, 2012 and Ph.D. from ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, India, 2015. He served as Assistant Animal Scientist, Regional Research Station (Punjab Agricultural University), Ballowal Saunkhri, Punjab, India, 2016-2018. He is a Scientist (ARS) in the Discipline of Animal Genetics and Breeding, Department of Livestock Production, ICAR-RC-NEH, Umiam, Meghalaya, since 2018 until the present.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar's research interests include Quantitative Genetics; Marker Assisted Selection; Population Genetics; Molecular Markers; Animal Genetics; Animal Production; Animal Breeding; PCR.
