Prof. Majed Odeh completed his M.D. in the Faculty of Medicine at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology with the Prize of Excellence on his M.D. theses. He is the head of the Department of Internal Medicine A' at Bnai Zion Medical Center, Haifa, Israel, for more than thirteen years, and serves as an associate professor of medicine at the Technion Faculty of Medicine. His main research interests include the role of tumor necrosis factor-α in the pathogenesis of various diseases, the pathogenesis of hepatic encephalopathy, pleural diseases, obstructive sleep apnea, specific topics in rheumatology, and adverse drug reactions. Prof. Odeh has published more than 200 papers of basic and clinical research in international peer-reviewed medical and physiological journals. He is a permanent distinguished lecturer in medical education and teaching at the Technion Faculty of Medicine for more than 28 years. He is also a winner of more than 40 prizes and awards in basic and clinical research, and medical education and teaching. Prof. Odeh is the winner of the Ig Noble Prize in the field of Medicine for the year 2006.
