Prof. Abhishek Shankar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Lady Hardinge Medical College & SSK Hospital, Delhi, India. He has worked at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi from 2012-2019 in different capacities i.e. Resident, Research Fellow, and Faculty. He is an NCI Cancer Prevention Fellow and recipient of many National and International awards and fellowships. He is a Member and Chair of many National and International Committees. He serves as Associate Editor in Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention (APJCP), Editor in Chief in Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Care (APJCC). He is a reviewer for many scientific journals of International repute. He is a member of the Tobacco Control of Smoking Cessation Committee of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC). He is also chair Clinical Cancer committee of the Asian Pacific Organisation of Cancer Prevention (APOCP). He is credited to start the first preventive oncology department in the premier institute of India. He has founded the Indian Society of Clinical Oncology (ISCO) and serves as Secretary-General at present. He writes regularly for different news agencies globally and his blogs and opinions are focusing on cancer care issues.
Prof. Abhishek Shankar’s clinical and research interests include community-based cancer prevention, quality of life issues in cancer patients, cancer screening, global oncology, cancer policy, cancer management in resource-limited settings, tobacco control, and smoking cessation, and familial and high-risk cancers, Disparities and inequalities in access to cancer care, Sociocultural determinants of cancer, Precision Oncology, Advanced Radiotherapy Techniques.
