Professor Aurangzeb graduates his MBBS from Sindh University in 1997/98. After Completing his one-year house job in Medicine and Surgery at Civil Hospital Karachi, he appeared in FCPS Part 1 in 2000 and went for four-year residency Program at the department of Ophthalmology -Civil hospital Karachi. In 2004 he successfully gets through Membership (MCPS) and Fellowship (FCPS) Examinations from the College of Physician Surgeon Pakistan. He joined the prevention and Control of Blindness Cell as Research Associate & Course co-ordinator for Ophthalmic Technician program (Equivalent to Assistant Professor) where his job responsibilities include, Teaching for under and Post graduate students, Ophthalmic technicians, District Ophthalmologist. HE was also a Tutor for the BSc Optometrist Course run by Allama Iqbal Open University at the department of ophthalmology civil hospital Karachi. During his stay, he actively participated in surgical camps and up to so for he performed approximately more than 10000 cataract surgeries. In 2005/6 Prof Shaikh was awarded common wealth scholarship award and went UK for his MSc and DCEH for community ophthalmology (MPH-Vision 2020) from the University of London & LSHTM. After completing his MSc and Diploma he re-joined his parent department where he closely worked with international NGOs like Fred hallows, SSI, Orbis international. During his stay Prof Shaikh contributed his efforts for the development of Paediatric ophthalmology services, Argon laser training program for diabetic retinopathy, Phaco wet lab and curriculum development for BSc optometry at Dow University of Health Sciences. Professor Dr. Aurangzeb Shaikh is an active Fellow member of The Royal College of Physician Surgeons of Glasgow and The Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh. Prof Shaikh is a member of the Examiner Faculty for FRCS Ophthalmology both for RCPSG and RCSEd and FCPS Ophthalmology the College of Physician and Surgeons of Pakistan.
Prof Shaikh is interested in conducting research for Glaucoma and Paediatric Eye Anomalies. Currently, he is working to develop a tool for clinical teachers for Transferring clinical skills to the Medical Students.
