Dr. Marco Puma Duque is currently a consultant of the Department of Endocrinology and Nutrition at Infanta Cristina University Hospital in Parla-Madrid. Spain. Dr. Puma obtained his Doctor of Medicine and Surgery degree at Central University in Quito, Ecuador; and, performed his training in Endocrinology at La Paz University Hospital in Madrid. This hospital is probably one of the most prestigious centers in Spain. He obtained his Ph.D. in Medicine at Autónoma de Madrid University. He has also earned a Master degree in Obesity and its complications by Alcalá de Henares University. Dr. Puma has a particular interest in teaching. For this reason, he recently concluded a postgraduate course in university teaching and is going to start another one in Tutorship of residents. Additionally, Dr. Puma has high expectations about the use of big data analytics in medicine and healthcare and is preparing different projects shortly. He has founded and is in charge of the Unit of Obesity in his hospital. He is also a part of the team of a new program of exercise in complex pathologies. This program is considered pioneering in its area, and it could probably become a vital tool for the treatment of many patients. He has participated as a speaker in different activities with pre and postgraduate doctors. Dr. Puma is nowadays involved in studies on new drugs for the treatment of diabetes and dyslipidemia.
Dr. Marco Puma Duque research interests are in diabetes and its complications, severe obesity and new treatments, exercise in the treatment of obesity, dyslipidemia and cardiovascular risk, vitamin D, conservative treatment of microcarcinomas of the thyroid gland; and, new ways of diagnosis and treatment of adrenal and pituitary disease.
