Dr. Valentin Pavlov obtained M.D. degree from Bashkir State Medical Institute in 1989. He has received his Ph.D. degree and completed post-doctoral training at People’s Friendship University of Russia, where his work focused on defining the impact of allogeneic collagen on resorption mechanisms in normal and pathological tissue repair. In 2003 Dr. Valentin Pavlov was appointed the Director of Department of Urology of Bashkir State Medical University, a position he still holds. His clinical work covers urogynecology, robot-assisted pelvic evisceration and pelvic reconstructive surgery. He was the first in Russia who performed the infra-elevator pelvic evisceration followed by pelvic floor plastic surgery with a skin-muscle-fascial flap.
The scientific interests of Prof. Pavlov include all areas of urogynecology, cancer research, regenerative medicine, pelvic reconstructive surgery and urinary incontinence. Likewise, he is performing extensive work on microcirculation in small pelvic organs and biomaterials in regenerative urogynecology, particularly focusing on the autologous transplantation of cell-based components in stress urinary incontinence.
