Dr. Selamawit Alemayehu is a medical doctor and public health specialist currently pursuing psychiatry residency at Jimma. Prior enrolling for residency program, she had been working as a general practitioner for about 4 years. Furthermore, she had worked in different managerial positions at district hospital where she had position as inpatient case manager. Her dream of influencing health at a community level saw her pursue graduate studies in Public health at Hanoi Medical University where she recently graduated with a IMPH degree. Enrolling and completing her graduate studies in Public health has given her skills such as; interpersonal, communication, planning and organization skills. Selamawit is a highly motivated, dedicated and analytical Public health professional with a research bias towards mental health, and global health. In addition, she assists research activities at Research and academic unit of Aabet hospital. She also worked as deputy editor of newsletter of the hospital/Aabet branch.
Dr. Selamawit Alemayehu is interested to do research in relation to mental health, Global health, epidemiology, infectious disease, tropical disease and nutrition. It would enable her address issues that affect health and wellbeing of individual and community. It would help her contribute to health care system of Ethiopia and Africa on increasing life expectancy, reduce child mortality and decrease prevalence of communicable disease.
