Biography

Dr. Abdelbaset Nasr Sayed Ahmed is a Professor of Animal Nutrition and Clinical Nutrition, Head of Animal Nutrition and Clinical Nutrition Department, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Assiut University, Egypt. He has been graduated with a Bachelors degree in Veterinary Medicine from Assiut University in 1984. He has been awarded a Masters degree in Poultry Nutrition from Assiut University in 1989 and a Ph. D degree in Fish Nutrition from Bonn University and Assiut University (Channel System) in 1995. Dr Abdelbaset holds more than thirty five years of clinical and research work experience. His research program included animal nutrition, poultry nutrition, fish nutrition and biostatistics. His Masters research thesis revolved around fungus contaminate ingredients use in poultry diets and how to prevent that contamination by using chemical and biological treatments, entitled; A study on the toxicity of fungus contaminated poultry feedingstuffs and methods of prevention. His Ph.D research thesis revolved around requirements of fish for energy, protein and amino acids, entitled; A study on the performance and requirements of Rainbow trout and Tilapia fish for energy and protein. The research outcomes were of great significance, and added powerful values for both animal welfare and human health. Dr Abdelbaset has presented a wide range of publications in local, regional and international journals and other media platforms. Beside curricular and research activities in Animal, Poultry and Fish nutrition and Clinical nutrition, he attended multiple workshops and conferences in Animal, Poultry and Fish nutrition and Clinical nutrition, soft skills and human resource development. Dr Abdelbaset speaks a good command of English and Deutsch, and is passionate about establishment of strong bonds among the global community and international scholars. He is also keen on innovation and scientific development to discover and find cheap and untraditional diets for Animal, Poultry and Fish and ending the competition between man and animals for feed sources. Dr Abdelbaset teaching the theoretical and practical parts of Animal Nutrition and Deficiency Diseases for under-graduate and post-graduate students, Fac. of Veterinary Medicine, Assiut, South Valley, Sohag, Minia and Aswan Universities. He is a membership in the Continual Scientific Committee of Hygiene, Nutrition, Animal Husbandry and Food control, Supreme Council of Universities, Veterinary Education Sector, High Ministry of Education and Scientific Research, Egypt and more than 10 societies in the Animal and poultry nutrition all over the world. Dr Abdelbaset published three books in the field of fish and poultry nutrition. He is supervised of more than 30 Master's and Doctoral dissertations in the Animal, Poultry and Fish Nutrition. He won a number of awards such as; Teaching excellent in the Veterinary and Pharmacy Sciences, 2008; Award of Scientific Excellence in Veterinary Medical Sciences, 2005 and Good Research in the Veterinary Science (Animal Nutrition), 2001, 2004, and 2007.


Research Interest

Dr. Abdelbaset's special interest focuses on research areas of requirements of animals, poultry and fish for protein and energy and amino acids; formulation of the least-cost rations for animals, poultry and fish and using agriculture by-product, local feedstuffs and unconventional ingredients in the formulation of rations for animals, poultry and fish.
