Dr. Ahmed Sheir is an Egyptian ophthalmologist born on 1 January 1961, graduated from faculty of medicine Mansoura University. Took his MBBch certificate on November 1985 with very good degree. After one year of training in different clinical general and special departments at Mansoura university hospital went to military service from April 1987 to July 1988. Registered for Master degree in ophthalmology department at Ain Shams University in Cairo 1988. Haired in 1989 assistant researcher at Research Institute of Ophthalmology (RIO) and took his Master degree 1990. In November 1994 took MD degree From Ain Shams university and on May 1995 took the position of Researcher of ophthalmology at (RIO). In 2000 he was upgraded to assistant professor and on 2005 to professor of ophthalmology in Vitreoretinal department at (RIO) and took the position of head of vitreoretinal surgery unit in 1910. On May 1911 took the position of president of (RIO) for 4 years. From 2015 till now professor of Ophthalmology at (RIO). As regards his academic work in (RIO) he is involved in research work, clinical training for younger staff, supervision for M. Sc & MD thesis, examining postgraduates as an external examiner in Beni Swef university. Also shared as speaker or Chairman in many national and international scientific meetings and conferences. Clinically, shared as a cofounder of vitreoretinal surgical units in (RIO) and private hospitals and ophthalmology centers in Egypt. Has many publications in national and international Ophthalmology journals and member of many Ophthalmological societies.
