Biography

Dr. Xavier Vincent Pereira is a Consultant Psychiatrist and Psychotherapist and an Associate Professor at Taylor’s University’s School of Medicine, Malaysia. He consults at two private hospitals in the greater Kuala Lumpur area and the Sungai Buloh General Hospital. He has more than 20 years of experience in various forms of community work and service in the psychiatric departments of Malaysian public hospitals. Dr Pereira co-founded and serves pro-bono as Health Equity Initiatives’ Director, Psychiatrist and Mental Health Services Director. He is also the founder Chair of the Catholic Counselors and Therapists of Malaysia. Dr. Pereira is an alumni of St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore, India. He did his Masters in Psychological Medicine at University Malaya and has a certification in Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) by the International Society of IPT. He gained further certification as a supervisor and trainer in IPT under the IPT Institute, USA.


Research Interest

Dr. Xavier Vincent Pereira has publications in the area of Migration and Mental Health. His other research interests are in Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), and Mood and Anxiety Disorders.
