Dr. Silvia V. Navarro is a research scientist and an active member of the Academic Division and the Legal Psychology division of the General Council of Psychology in Spain. She has studied the neurobiology of compulsivity and schizophrenia symptoms in rodents by behavioral paradigms. The cognitive domains she explored are selective attention, cognitive inflexibility and inhibitory control. Dr. Navarro is experienced in tissue preparation and neurohistochemistry, as well as live cell imaging and image processing techniques. She is also skilled in in vivo pharmacological manipulations techniques by studying molecular signaling in the brain. Dr. Navarro has lead the Psychological Assessment Department of Afim21 Association, in a project aimed to improve cognitive functioning of minorities in risk of social exclusion. Dr. Navarro has worked as forensic psychologist in the Court of Family Issues of Almería (Spain), advising judges in relevant decisions on custody of minors and profiles of personality and parental suitability.
