Dr. Duncan Dan Mugala is a Primary school training in Kabwe, selected by the National Secondary school -Lusaka. After secondary education, I entered the University of Zambia(UNZA)-Lusaka. Qualified as MBChB. My best results were in General Surgery. Went for Postgraduate studies at the UTH Lusaka after internship and two years as Registered Doctor, spent four years in General Surgery. Qualified as a General Surgeon. Worked in Chingola for 24 years, first as Consultant Surgeon and later, senior consultant. 2011, joined the Copperbelt University (CBU)School of medicine (SOM) as a Senior Lecturer in General surgery based in Ndola where I am a Senior consultant of General Surgery. Surgical societies: In 1992, one of the first members of the Zambia Society of Surgeons (ZSS), 1993, a Fellow of East Central and Southern Africa and 2002, the early team that set up the College internationally known as the College Of Surgery of East Central and Southern Africa(COSECSA). Academically; invited as an Honorably Lecturer at the UNZA school of medicine in 1994, and I have taken part in training many General surgeons in Zambia. I am still an external examiner of this University. I am part of the Lecturers of the COSECSA from 2002, travelled widely as an examiner. 2010, involved in the COSECSA teaching and set up a center at the KCM Hospital in Chingola.
Dr. Duncan Dan Mugala is a Member of the Ethics Committee at Tropic Diseases Research Centre based in Ndola, involved in the CBU research work of our undergraduate and postgraduate students. Coordinator of the Postgraduates students program. Involved in research and publication while working at KCM. Have published 09 papers while I was in the KCM hospital and 32 papers while working in CBU
