Biography

Dr. Ramu is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina, USA. After graduating from medical school in India, she completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Connecticut. She stayed on to complete her Cardiology fellowship, including a year as Chief cardiology fellow at the Hartford Hospital, University of Connecticut program. She was presented with the Outstanding service as Chief cardiology fellow award in recognition of her service during her fellowship. She subsequently completed a fellowship in Advanced heart failure and Cardiac transplantation at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Ramu’s clinical expertise includes advanced heart failure, in particular, the care of patients before and after heart transplantation and left ventricular assist devices (LVAD), peri-partum cardiomyopathy, echocardiography, pulmonary hypertension, and cardio-oncology. Dr. Ramu is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. She is also a member of the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation and American Heart Association. She has published several peer-reviewed manuscripts and serves on editorial board for many journals.


Research Interest

Dr. Ramu’s research interests include the role of echocardiography in advanced heart failure, heart transplantation, and cardio-oncology.
