Dr Luis Mendoza was graduated as DVM in the university of Leon (Spain). Afterwards he obtained a PhD degree in veterinary science in the University of Liege (Belgium). His main research subject was about Osteochondrosis dissecans: how environment is able to modify the evolution of the disease, and the use of genetic biomarkers for the diagnostic and prevention of the disease. He has been working as DVM in the European Centre of the Horse (Belgium) as clinical researcher. Besides, he participated in the selection and follow up of young sport horses for the Walloon Region (Belgium). After concluding a formation in regenerative medicine in the ONIRIS (France), he participated in the different protocols and studies of regenerative medicine in the same centre in collaboration with the Equine Clinic of Liege University. He has been the responsible of the Developmental Orthopaedic Diseases screening for young foals for the Walloon Region in Belgium. Dr Mendoza has collaborated with the INRA (Institut National de Recherche Agronomique, France) for the study of how maternal environment is able to modify the future health of the new-born foals (Developmental Origins of Health and Disease), more specifically in the osteoarticular status. He has published numerous peer reviewed articles in different international journals and has made research presentations in different conventions and scientific meetings. Currently, he is working in the Dubai Camel Hospital (Dubai, UAE) as DVM, for orthopaedics mainly, for implementing different diagnostic techniques in the camel, but also for conducting different researches related to the racing camel.
