Dr. Panagopoulos Dimitrios is currently working as an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Neurosurgery at University Hospital of Alexandroupoli, Democritus University of Thrace, Greece. His PhD was dedicated to the treatment of acute cerebral edema and intracranial hypertension in an experimental model with pigs, using desferioxamine, which was acting as free radical scavenger. He also investigated the role of oxidative stress and ferrum ions in the pathogenesis of cerebral edema. After his initial specialization at Neurosurgery, he underwent a subspecia;ization in Pediatric Neurosurgery, working as a Consultant at the two Pediatric Neurosurgical Clinics of Greece. He had also gained experience in complex spinal surgery, working at the Spinal Team of Queen Elizabeth University Hospital of Birmingham, UK.
Panagopoulos Dimitrios interests in the field of pediatric neurosurgery is: treatment of CSF circulation disorders, neuro-oncology and treatment of complex spinal deformities, including scoliosis.
