Dr Karthick Subramanian is a practicing psychiatrist working as a Senior Resident in the Department of Psychiatry, in Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), from Puducherry, India. He has been practicing both academic and clinical psychiatry since 2015. The main areas of expertise being research on bipolar disorders, suicide, and academic psychiatry. He pursued Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Psychiatry from the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, during the period of 2012-2015. During the period of postgraduate education he has completed his dissertation relating to the “Course and outcome of bipolar disorder - type I”. Since then he has published a considerable amount of original research relating to “Course and outcome of bipolar I disorder”. Many of his publications have been published by major scientific journals.
Dr Karthick Subramanian main research interests would include study of bipolar disorder, substance abuse, suicide, and community psychiatry. In addition to research methods, he is also interested in clinical teaching focusing on psychopathology and clinical evaluation of patients. His projects include “Study on risk factors for suicide in bipolar I disorder”, “Residents’ perspectives on the need to learn psychopathology”, etc. amongst few others. He currently resides in Puducherry, India.
