Dr Nguyen Toan Thang was born in center of Vietnam in 1975. He received his MD degree from Hanoi Medical University (HMU), Vietnam in 1998. He completed a three-year resident program at Department of Anesthesia and Critical Care, HMU and Vietduc University Hospital in 2002. He has been a lecturer at HMU from 2005 until now. He also worked as an anesthesiologist in Hanoi Medical University Hospital and Vietduc University Hospital from 2003 to 2008. Between 2009 and 2015, he made PhD at HMU. He worked at Department of Anesthesia and Critical Care in Bachmai University Hospital from 2009 to now. Since 2017 he was named as Deputy Head of department in charge of Surgical ICU in Bachmai hospital. In 2017, he worked as a instructor in Regional Anesthesia at Department of Anesthesia and Critical Care of HMU. In 2005, 2008 and 2017, he used to be an observer doctor at French Hospital in Paris, Chronic Pain Management Service and Prehospital Emergency & ICU for trauma in Tasmania, Australia and Dept of Anesthesia, Yokosuka Hospital, Japan. He has been invited as visiting instructor to Regional Anesthesia Workshops and Primary Trauma Care (PTC) courses, he is member of Vietnamese Society of Anesthesiology. Dr. Thang practices and teaches about regional anesthesia, acute pain management, obstetric anesthesia, general anesthesia for elderly and patient with concurrent diseases and out of theater anesthesia now.
Dr. Thang’s research interests are regional anesthesia, anesthesia for high risk patient, obstetric anesthesia, neuroanesthesia, postoperative delirium, acute pain management, residual paralysis, ERAS and multimodal analgesia regimes, septic shock, VAP, neurocritical care and difficult airway.
